Barabane is the name of a small vineyard surrounded by hedges of acacia, hornbeam, and elderberry, bordered on the southernmost side by a canal of the Piave River. The presence of river stones, even on the surface, helps ensure a vibrant, cool, and dry soil where the symbiosis between the vine and other plants is best expressed. Cultivation is guided by natural and physiological criteria for sustainable agronomic management.
The first records of this grape variety being cultivated in our area date back to the second half of the 19th century. Often confused with Cabernet Franc in the past, it found ideal growing conditions here on the stony soils of the Piave River, thanks in part to the unique climate afforded by the protection of the nearby Dolomites.
